Hi,
I work as a retail domain consultant (business consulting) for the consulting arm of a leading IT services company. I have good international exposure and my current role warrants me to engage with senior executives (C-level/VP/Directors) in global retailer organizations. Would I fall under the category of "IT applicants" as per ISB's classification?
Your answer would help me gauge my chances of making it to ISB in 2009.

Your chances of being a successful candidate depends on your entire profile. The industry that you belong to matters very little here. The key things taken into consideration are
· Academic record
· Work experience (quality & depth of your work experience, industry insights)
· GMAT score
· Leadership potential
· Communication skills
· Career aspirations
Quality in each and every component of your application is essential to be successful. We recruit students who are intrinsically bright and are decent performers in all the areas they are exposed to.

Appreciate your response. Got your message that the overall profile is what makes true impact rather than any one criterion.
I asked this question because I had seen your response to another question where you'd said: "Lately, the GMAT score of applicants from IT applicant pool has gone up tremendously. The average GMAT score in the this pool is 730, so it is entirely your call if you want to apply with your current GMAT score or not."
So, if I do fall under the category of 'IT applicants' then I know that it would need a GMAT score close to 730 to beef up my profile. If I don't (say I fall under the 'consulting' category), I guess a lesser score would be sufficient.
Could you please reflect?

You do not exactly fall under the IT applicant category. A score of around 700 will do you good.
