A, B , C are wrong bcoz pattern is singular and indicate is plural

B is the correct answer.

Explanation.

Please understand that the “pattern of changes” is a plural construct as it is followed by “have”, so the part of the sentence underlined should be “indicate” but not “indicates”. So, D and E are eliminated. Now coming to A,B and C, as the time frame is mentioned, we can go with “who had lived” than just “who lived”, so eliminate A. Now among B and C, we cant have the underlined part starting with “may” as it raises a doubt on the study. But in reality, the facts in the study are possible. So we go with B.

I’m lost on this one. “Pattern” should mean singular form, so indicates, which narrows it to D and E. However, doesn’t “everyone” require plural form, in which case “a descendant” is wrong?
