GMAT Question of the Day : Data Sufficiency

Is u>v ?

1) u^2=v^2
2) u,v>0

A) Statement 1 alone is sufficient but statement 2 alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
B) Statement 2 alone is sufficient but statement 1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
C) Both statements 1 and 2 together are sufficient to answer the question but neither statement is sufficient alone.
D) Each statement alone is sufficient to answer the question.
E) Statements 1 and 2 are not sufficient to answer the question asked and additional data is needed to answer the statements.

If u,v>0 and u^2=v^2 means that u=v. Therefore the ans is always No.

am confused, since option 1 answers that u=v, then obviously u cant be > v, so the answer is answered from option 1 itself independently

u=-1, v=1 , then u^2 = v^2, but u,v >0, so u=v=1
Hence u not equal to v

u^2 = v^2 is possible even if u>v, For example (u,v)= (1,-1),
(2,-2) ….
