Of the 120 members attended the 1999 conference, 40 attended neither 1998 conference nor 1997 conference. How many members attended 1997 conference?
1). 25 members attended both 1997 conference and 1998 conference.
2). 30 attended 1997 conference but not 1998 conference.
A question like this, not very sure.
IN MY OPINION THE CORRECT WORDING SHOULD BE
Of the 120 members attended the 1999 conference, 40 attended neither 1998 conference nor 1997 conference. OF THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE IN 1999How many members ALSO attended 1997 conference?
1). 25 members attended both 1997 conference and 1998 conference.
2). 30 attended 1997 conference but not 1998 conference.
A question like this, not very sure.

C…….no of people who attended 98 conference only wud be =70
40 out of the 120 people attended none….so we are left with 80 people
by statement 1 we get that 25 people attended both the meeting
by statement 2 we get that 35 people attended only the 97 conference
Hence by jointly using data in both the statements we get the answer by the rule of sets as
80= 35 + no of people who attended only 1998 conference – 25
therefore,no of people who attended only 1998 conference= 70
hope i am correct and hope this helps
