(C) and it is believed to have been

Reasons why others are incorrect:
(A) believed to be
A huge flying reptile…..believed to be
This reptile couldn’t possibly believes, unless it is as smart as a human!
(B) and that is believed to be
‘…to be’ is referring to present beliefs, which is not true since the reptile had existed before I was born!.
The word ‘that’ is anonymouns.
(D) which was, it is believed,
Unnecessary passive usage
(E) which is believed to be
Same reason as (B)
