Thank You TakeGMAT team!

Hi TakeGMAT team,

I took the GMAT a week ago and scored a cool 750!

So, I guess my preparation ends here.

I want to thank this website and the TakeGMAT team for offering me continued challenges in the form of good questions. Solving the questions posed by you, to my best of understanding, always boosted my confidence, although the lack of “official” answers and explanations often led me to other websites/forums. But then, this was “My” forum, and so I kept returning back for more and more challenges.

I will not be a regular visitor to this forum anymore, but I am still available on my email id should anyone need my inputs on anything – a question’s answer or explanation, or on any other GMAT related stuff.

I am now in the phase of deciding on the schools I will be applying to. Let us see what’s in store for me.

As a suggestion for this site – I would like TakeGMAT.com to transform its format from quizzical to a real forum-like, where in discussions between members are a common practice. I often think no member’s answers should be accepted without explanations. But that’s just my opinion.
Thank you again for the continued patronage. I hope I have been a good member and author.

I wish all members best of luck!

    Hey,
For Tanya, Animesh and other GMATters..

Books I studied: OG10 and OG11, PR, Kaplan.
Other sources: Lots of stuff on internet. GMAT 1000 sets (CR,SC,RC)

    Plan:
Study in 80 minute blocks. (At least) 1 full-blown test a week.
Give your 150% attention to the explanations in OG.

    Rest later.
I am too tired to write more at this hour. Sorry.

    hello,
could u please tell me how i can score good marks in critical reasoning and sentence correction.i would be very thankfull to you.

  10. magnus1 says:

    Hi Vijay and Seemab,
You can score well in verbal section (RC, CR and SC) by following these rules:
    1) Make sure you do the verbal section of PR and Kaplan with 100% attention, make notes / highlight important points, and do the exercises.
    2) Once you have done that do all the questions of OG10 and OG11, and make sure you *know* why you answered a question right or wrong. It’s very important to understand the logic behind a correct answer.
    3) For SC, Spidey’s notes are a good reference.

    Hi Smriti,

Me to planning to give GMAT….i just started enquiring abt it…..and looking for the same info what you requested for. ……..Please do let me know in case you get any details..

  18. magnus1 says:

@Gaurav – There is no best book out of these 3 – Kaplan, PR or OG.
You need to be through with each of them (at least) once.

@Smriti – It takes 2 -6 months for anyone to have a decent prep for GMAT. Depends a great deal on:
your strategy, number of hrs /day you can spare, your study material’s ‘selectiveness’, your own focus and motivation etc etc.

Those looking for help with strategy, help with any study material or the study material itself may contact me directly at my email address below.

I am just starting GMAT prep classes at Princeton on the 15th of June. But since I am out of touch with Maths, I wanted to know what is the basic prep that I need to do to brush up my maths skills even before I start my class. Also how many hours of efforts need to be put in everyday/how many questions per section need to be solved everyday if I have 3 months for preparation??????? Pls help.

  20. magnus1 says:

    Jyoti,
You can start with any of the books – Kaplan / PR for basic tips on Problem solving. Additionally, you can grab a class 9th/10th book for maths from your young cousins and mark the chapters you need as per OG/PR/Kaplan, and then start refreshing the basics.

Overall for a 12 week plan as yours you will need anything between 2-3 hours a day – on weekdays and if you can manage 4 +hours on weekends that would be just sufficient.

There is no limit on questions per section to be solved, it’s more important to have maximum number of questions that you understood in terms of which answer was correct and why.

Remember you have 5 subjects to syudy – PS, DS, SC, CR and RC. And then AWA is there. So, ditribute your time judiciously.
