P = 9 (H-36)

Since 9 times as many paperback were sold “from the time the 1st paperback was sold. But when the 1st paperback was sold already 36 Hardcovers were sold.

H = P/9 + 36
——-
P+H=441

P+P/9+36=441
10/9 P = 405

P=405 * 10 / 9 = 364.5

So thats the correct answer = C

But how can the paper back be half ? ( Logically you cannot sell half a book?)

441000-36000=405000

9 part of 405000 is 364.500.

C is the right choice.

correct me if i am wrong isn ‘t it E ,I mean the question does not tell you that they have stop selling hardbacks right so by that logic 36,000 + x number of harbacks were sole hence 9(36,000 + x) paperbacks were sold .
Therefore total copies sold is 9(36,000 + x) + 36,000 + x = 10(36,000 + x) = 441000
solving this x = 8100
total paperbacks sold = 396.900
